World Breastfeeding Week

World Breastfeeding Week

Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week | Aug 1–7

August 1st–7th is World Breastfeeding Week, a time to uplift, support, and celebrate all the mamas who choose and are able to nourish their little ones through breastfeeding. Whether you’re just starting or deep in the journey, know that you are not alone—and we see you.

The Beauty (and Challenge) of Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is a beautiful, natural bond between you and your baby—but let’s be real, it’s not always easy. I’m a mama of four, and I breastfed all of my babies for as close to  2 years as possible. That meant long nights, sore nipples, and more than a few tears.

In the beginning, I struggled with hard, full breasts and the constant pressure to “get it right.” With my first two children, I was actually an over-supplier, which came with its own set of challenges. If you know, you know!

Breastfeeding Builds a Brighter Future

Breastfeeding doesn’t just benefit baby and mama—it’s a powerful foundation for stronger communities and healthier futures. It plays a vital role in boosting cognitive development, reducing healthcare costs, and even strengthening economies. By supporting breastfeeding, we’re investing in long-term health for our children and creating ripple effects that reach society as a whole.

It truly sets children up with the best possible beginning—strengthening immune systems, supporting brain development, and creating deeply rooted bonds. And when communities and workplaces support breastfeeding, it leads to healthier, more

sustainable outcomes across the board.

Tips to Support Milk Production + Energy

One thing I learned on this journey: nourishment matters—for both you and baby. Here are a few simple things that helped me:

  • Stay hydrated: Water is your best friend. Add coconut water or fruit slices for a little boost.

  • Fuel your body: Oatmeal, almonds, flax seed, and brewer’s yeast were always in my kitchen. These ingredients are known to help support milk production naturally.

  • Rest when you can: Even a 20-minute nap or feet-up moment can help your body reset.

  • Ask for help: Don’t be afraid to lean on your village—breastfeeding doesn’t mean doing it all alone.

Cookies That Helped Me Thrive (and Satisfied My Sweet Tooth 😅)

Through the long nights and cluster feedings, I leaned on my Milky Mama Cookies. Not only were they full of ingredients like flax, oats, brewer’s yeast, and almonds—they also hit the spot when I needed something sweet.

Seriously, I kept a stash on the nightstand!

You’ve Got This, Mama 💗

Every breastfeeding journey is different. Whether it’s smooth sailing or a daily uphill climb, know that you're doing something amazing. From one breastfeeding mama to another—I see you, I support you, and I’m cheering you on.
